ASHLAND — Zoning Board continues 40B housing hearing; sewer relocation emerges as deal breaker. The Board heard from applicant Lynn Sweet and Attorney Paul Haverty on the proposed 116-unit mixed-income project at 55 West Union Street and, on the strength of Department of Public Works Director Doug Small's March 5 letter, directed relocation of subsurface sewer lines to Memorial Drive — a condition Haverty said would likely kill the project and trigger an appeal to the Housing Appeals Committee. Chair John Trefethen, Brian Forestal, and Stuart Siegel, the three sitting members, voted unanimously to continue the hearing to March 30.
The Board also continued a Special Permit hearing for 35 Nickerson Road (garage addition to nonconforming structure) to March 24 after the applicant did not appear.
