Historical Commission discusses burial ground award, local historic district plans

Ashland Historical Commission hears award nomination for village burial ground work. The burial ground restoration working group has been nominated for the National Award of Preservation Commissions Excellence Award, with a potential ceremony in Minnesota in July, according to Clerk Helen Nickole. The commission is developing a marketing campaign for the local historic district for fall town meeting, working with Director of Economic Development Jasmine and members Peter Wilner and Makita Keegan.

The board also discussed archaeological concerns at a confirmed Native American site at Burnham's where the Historical Society holds a collection of stone tools.
