Zoning Board of Appeals continues 40B hearing; ratifies prior decision

Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of May 12, 2026

Ashland Zoning Board of Appeals continued a 40B public hearing on a 116-unit mixed-income development at 55 West Union Street. The Board unanimously granted the applicant's request to extend the hearing to May 26, 2026, pending geotechnical boring results that Chair John Trefethen said would inform further discussion of the sewer system and waiver requests. The project, by 55 West Union LLC, proposes 87 market-rate units and 29 income-restricted units on 4.9 acres in the Commercial Highway District.

The Board also voted to ratify a prior decision on Captain Eames Circle and Algonquin Trail, with Chair Trefethen recusing himself from that 3-0 vote.
