Ashland Select Board Holds Three Sessions Wednesday

Ashland's civic calendar is busy this week, with three Select Board sessions set for Wednesday and a full slate of library programming running through the weekend, while a MetroWest Daily News obituary noted the death of a 1972 Ashland High School graduate.

TOWN HALL

The Select Board's Wednesday, Aug. 5 lineup includes a budget workshop, an executive session and a hybrid regular meeting, according to the town's public calendar. Later in August, residents can expect meetings of the Conservation Commission, the Roadway Traffic Study Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Board, all posted to the town's online calendar this week.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Ashland Public Library has several programs running Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, Aug. 5, the library hosts Baby Time for children ages 0 to 3 with a caregiver, a Crafternoon flower pinch pot session for grades 2 through 6, an in-person Mah Jongg session for adults, and a virtual meeting of the library's Environmental Book Club discussing "Blown to Hell: America's Deadly Betrayal of the Marshall Islanders." The library's Adult Summer Reading Challenge 2026 also continues online.

On Thursday, Aug. 6, the library offers Make Me a Story for ages 3 to 7 with a caregiver, and a virtual talk from photographer Bill Gette on Alaska's remote places, Nome and Utqiagvik. The Council on Aging also meets Thursday.
