Ashland seeks volunteers for town manager screening panel

The Ashland Select Board announced Oct. 27 that it is inviting residents to apply for a Town Manager Screening Committee that will help select the town's next town manager.

Working with the Collins Center, the consultant assisting the Select Board with the search, committee members will review applications, take part in preliminary interviews and recommend finalist candidates to the Select Board for final consideration.

The town said residents with varied backgrounds, including municipal government, human resources, finance, business, nonprofit leadership, community engagement or volunteer service, are encouraged to apply.

Committee members must be available for a set schedule of meetings, all from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: an initial organizational meeting Dec. 3, a session to finalize interview questions Dec. 15, receipt of candidate resumes Jan. 2, a resume review and interview selection meeting Jan. 5, and candidate interviews conducted sometime between Jan. 11 and Jan. 20, with specific dates to be determined.

Residents interested in serving must complete a Talent Bank Form describing their relevant experience and reasons for wanting to join the committee. The application deadline is Nov. 11. The town noted that submitting an application does not guarantee appointment to the committee.

The Select Board plans to discuss the screening process at its Nov. 4 meeting and is scheduled to vote on committee appointments at its Dec. 2 meeting.
