The Ashland Select Board announced Oct. 27 that it has begun the search for the town's next town manager and has engaged the Collins Center to assist with recruitment and selection.

As a first step, the board is inviting residents, business owners, town employees and other community stakeholders to complete a brief community survey. The survey has four questions and is meant to help identify the leadership qualities, professional experience and priorities that matter most to people who live, work and do business in Ashland.

Responses will be reviewed by the Collins Center to help form a job profile for the next town manager, though the Select Board retains responsibility for the final selection and appointment.

The survey must be completed by Tuesday, Nov. 10. Residents who need help filling it out can get assistance in the computer lab at the Ashland Community Center on Monday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to noon, or on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The Select Board is also encouraging residents to take part in a virtual public input session on Nov. 9, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.

"Thank you for sharing your thoughts and helping shape the future of Ashland," the board said in the release, adding that the input will help identify the leadership and qualities needed to guide the town forward.
