Ashland's Planning Board approved a letter backing the town's Open Space and Recreation Plan after member Tricia Kendall complained no one from the sponsoring committee showed up to defend it. Kendall flagged a misspelling, inconsistent formatting and "strangely negative" language in the roughly 250-page draft, and board members said "we don't rubber stamp things on this board." Director of Planning Jasmine reached Roberta, a former Open Space and Recreation Committee member, by phone mid-meeting to explain the plan's public-input process, which included two surveys drawing more than 350 responses. The board then voted unanimously to approve the letter with edits, ahead of a state September 21 deadline.
Separately, the board voted to continue the 55 Tilton Avenue special permit hearing for a 14-unit mixed-use project to September 24, after the applicant said it remains stuck on stormwater engineering with the Conservation Commission.
