Ashland boards outline $3.5 million tax package to address structural deficit. At a joint Finance Committee, School Board, and Select Board meeting on March 10, Town Manager Michael Herbert presented a four-part financial restructuring plan requiring a $2.75 million operational override for Ashland Public Schools and a $750,000 previously approved debt exclusion shift. The measure would raise the average single-family home tax by approximately $545 annually.
Superintendent James Adams reported district costs of approximately $49 million annually and projected staffing reductions of approximately 13.2 full-time equivalent positions under any scenario. In a no-override scenario, the town would face approximately a $434,000 budget gap requiring approximately $1.4 million in additional Stabilization Fund draws.
