Select Board · Meeting of June 3, 2026

Ashland Select Board scrutinized the town's handling of three pending 40B housing applications. Resident Connie Mantle said the Massachusetts Housing Authority banned developer Jeffrey Engler from building for a year after he misrepresented a Wellesley application, and criticized a "six and a half month delay" by Town Counsel Brian Winner on a related Ashland complaint. Winner said the appeal window on the 1060 Main Street zoning board permit "has lapsed," and resident Joan Gunfrati said Engler "lied on the application and said there were no restrictions." Town Manager Michael Herbert reported the town withdrew $2.2 million from its stabilization fund in fiscal 2026, leaving $8.3 million, and plans to withdraw $1.8 million more in fiscal 2027.

The board approved its consent agenda unanimously, including appointing Patrick Rose as Light Equipment Operator for the Water/Sewer Department.
