Ashland traffic safety committee approves hand-painted traffic box project. The Roadway Traffic Study Committee unanimously backed the Ashland Arts Council's plan to beautify 13 traffic control boxes throughout town with hand-painted artwork, beginning with the Main and Front Street box by Marathon Monday; Chair Joe Magnani will seek Town Manager and Select Board approval. The committee also heard resident Jim Boyle raise concerns about a Captain Eames Circle and Algonquin Trail road improvement project, questioning whether the town will continue snow plowing and school bus service if traffic gates are installed on Cedar Street and whether municipal costs for a traffic study and potential light installation at Cedar and Fruit streets will be shared; Magnani said he would ask the Planning Board or ZBA to make a traffic study a project condition.
A 2024 study showed 2,285 daily vehicles through the area against 2,135 residents.
