ASHLAND — Select Board postpones Driscoll Scholarship decision pending legal counsel review. The trust, with a fund balance of approximately three hundred thousand dollars and available earnings of seventy-nine thousand four hundred dollars, has been awarded six thousand dollars annually since 2006. Board member Claudia Bennett, presenting the history, proposed two scholarship awards at six thousand dollars each; Makeda Keegan supported that level; Bennett suggested three scholarships; Yolanda Greaves urged four.
Brandi Kinsman requested additional information before the board makes a final determination at its May 20 meeting. Legal counsel will review whether trustee dissolution has already occurred under the trust's twenty-one-year-after-last-death provision.
