Planning Board backs Design Review Bylaw amendment before Town Meeting
Planning Board · Meeting of April 30, 2026
ASHLAND — Planning Board unanimously backs Design Review Committee Bylaw amendment for Town Meeting. The revision converts the Design Review Committee from a permanent five-member body with three-year terms to an ad-hoc committee of three to five members appointed per project, aimed at making the volunteer role less onerous and easier to fill with architects and other specialized reviewers. The Board also unanimously approved a revised Planning Department Fee Schedule, raising abutter notification and legal advertisement charges to align with actual town costs and surrounding communities, with a waiver option.
Three major development projects—including a proposed 14-unit mixed-use building at 55 Tilton Avenue—were continued to May 14 for further review.
