Mindess Elementary Sets Aug. 31 First Day of School

Ashland Public Schools has set Monday, Aug. 31, as the first day of classes at David Mindess Elementary School, with preschool orientation for morning classes scheduled the same day. Meanwhile, the Ashland Public Library is loading Thursday, Aug. 13, with author and family programming as summer reading winds down.

SCHOOLS

David Mindess Elementary School's first day of class is set for Monday, Aug. 31, according to the Ashland Public Schools district calendar. Preschool orientation for morning classes is scheduled for the same day, running from 9 to 10 a.m.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Ashland Public Library has stacked Thursday, Aug. 13, with programming across age groups. Romance author Olivia Dade headlines a virtual "Book Birthday Celebration," while families can catch a Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party featuring Flying High Dogs. The day also includes "Make Me a Story" for ages three to seven with a caregiver, a Teen Creative Writing Club session, an in-person Great Decisions discussion on "Multilateral Institutions in a Changing World Order," and a Women's Wisdom Circle program titled "Inspiring Generosity." The library's Kids Summer Reading Raffle Drawing runs Thursday into Friday, Aug. 13-14.

COMING UP

The Planning Board meets in hybrid format Thursday, Aug. 13. The Conservation Commission holds a hybrid meeting Monday, Aug. 17, followed by the Library Board of Trustees in hybrid format Tuesday, Aug. 18. The Town Clerk conducts ballot testing Wednesday, Aug. 19.
