Library Trustees Approve Storytime Room and Teen Safety Policies

Ashland Library Board approved two new facility use and teen safety policies.

Board of Library Trustees · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Ashland Library Board approved two new facility use and teen safety policies. The Board of Library Trustees unanimously approved changes limiting Children's Storytime Room reservations to programming for ages 15 and under and establishing procedures for teens left after closing, including direction to contact police to ensure child safety. Chair Claire Goss presided.

Summer reading programs grew significantly, with teen enrollment climbing 250 percent to 130 participants and all summer programs generating more than 950,000 minutes of reading. The board discussed but did not vote on a proposed November warrant article reallocating Meals Tax revenue 50-50 toward Resident Services, which could support library staffing.
