ASHLAND — Historical Commission approves prior minutes and advances burial survey preparations. The five-member commission, chaired by Jim Neilsen, voted 4-0-1 to accept prior meeting minutes, with Curtiss Hoffman abstaining. Bridgewater State University will conduct a ground-penetrating radar survey of Village Burial Ground July 20-25, with Charlene Frary coordinating volunteer meals and water support.
Gravestone restorer Warren Walkup has completed work on 60 graves total, with six to seven currently underway. The commission is advancing a Local Historic District initiative with Jim Neilsen, Makeda Keegan, and Peter Wilner developing a participation timeline and editing a bylaw proposal.
