ASHLAND — Commission continues Waverly Street development hearing to February 2. The Conservation Commission voted to continue a complex Notice of Intent for a proposed 61 Waverly Street development after three hours of debate over bedrock, blasting, and stormwater impacts. Vice Chair Carl Hakansson and member Gene Crouch pressed the applicant on subsurface testing depth, prompting agreement to replace aging Waverly Street drain lines and add groundwater management protections.

The Commission also voted 5-0 to support Hopkinton's enforcement of open space protections on a parcel straddling both towns, after learning a solar developer has lined up a buyer for the Ashland portion despite special permit conditions requiring permanent conservation restriction.
