ASHLAND — Conservation Commission approves Oak Street soil testing with conditions; four applications deferred. The Commission voted 5-0-1 to issue a Negative 3 Determination of Applicability for soil test pits at 0 and 175 Oak Street, requiring erosion controls including compost sock, restricting tree removal without approval, and prohibiting sediment track-out onto the roadway. Commissioners Gene Crouch and Carl Hakansson emphasized minimizing impact to wetlands boundaries and vegetation.
Four permit applications for other properties were continued to January 26 or February 9 to allow submission of additional environmental studies. The Commission unanimously approved a revised 2026 meeting schedule to address conflicts with Yom Kippur, and also discussed enforcement of hunting regulations at Warren Woods following an incident involving an armed hunter.
