Conservation Commission · Meeting of June 22, 2026
Commission continues 10-60 Main Street development hearing on contamination issues at Nyanza site. The Ashland Conservation Commission continued its March 2-initiated hearing for the 10-60 Main Street mixed-use development (40 units, commercial and residential space) on June 22, approving 11 additional soil-contamination tests at locations within and around existing buildings and a historic raceway. The site is located within the Nyanza plume, a mapped EPA contamination zone.
Building 10 will remain commercial with a vapor barrier to address subslab contamination; the applicant's Activity Use Limitation restricting residential use will be amended post-construction pending MassDEP approval, with peer reviewers to assess the site's contamination, floodplain, and stormwater plans during the July 20 continued hearing.
